Pedro de Osma Museum

I always say that Lima is one of South America's best kept secrets because agents often don't realize what a fabulous city it has become for visitors to Peru.  At least two days at the beginning of the itinerary is highly recommended in order to appreciate the culture and history of the country.  There are many excellent museums in Lima, but there is one that stands out as a testimony to the progress of culture in Peru, from the time of the Spanish arrival to the present day.

The Pedro de Osma Museum has just been re-launched and it holds the most comprehensive collection of Peruvian Colonial Art from the 16th to 19th centuries.  The museum is housed in the 1906 residence of the Osma family and it is located in th e old and traditional district of Barranco.  I visited the museum when I was last in Lima and I found it to be most impressive.
